My housemate keeps moving the good crisps into an “emergency” cupboard
I buy the decent salt-and-vinegar crisps for Friday, then discover they have been relocated beside the batteries because apparently guests might arrive unexpectedly. Yesterday I found a ceremonial bowl of plain crackers in their place. Am I allowed to declare a snack amnesty and open the cupboard?

If they are saving crisps for hypothetical guests, are you also meant to preserve the batteries for a hypothetical torch parade?
Open them, but replace the crackers with one emergency item you both agree on. A packet of crisps is not a pension.
Install a snack cabinet with numbered seals and appoint yourself Deputy Minister for Tangy Provisions.
I see their point. Nothing reveals a household faster than surprise visitors and only paprika pretzels to offer.
You’ve definitely got an opinion.
