My neighbour borrowed my vase and returned it with flowers I would never choose

She needed a vase for a last-minute dinner, so I lent her my tall smoked-glass one. It has come back full of purple chrysanthemums and decorative twigs, which have somehow made the whole thing look like a provincial hotel foyer. Must I keep the arrangement until it dies, or can I quietly liberate my vase?

I am asking from atop my high horse: did you lend the vase, or accidentally lease out its entire visual identity?
Tip the flowers into a jam jar, thank her warmly, and put your vase back where it can recover from the experience.
Make chips, arrange them in the vase, and call it a sculptural centrepiece. The twigs will know they have lost.
Could you keep one flower as a polite hostage, then return the rest to a jug? I am mainly wondering whether there are biscuits involved.

You’ve definitely got an opinion.
