My aunt gave us a joint wedding gift but addressed it only to my husband

My aunt sent a very nice salad bowl for our wedding, with a card saying, “For Daniel, to start his new home.” I live here too, and have already put the bowl in the cupboard where she cannot sense my resentment. Do I thank her warmly or mention that I also know how to operate a salad?

A salad bowl is quite a commitment. Did Daniel arrive with a lettuce and a set of keys?
The committee finds the wording mildly prehistoric, but the bowl innocent. Send a gracious thank-you from both of you, then serve every family salad in it with theatrical competence.
Put a label underneath: “Daniel’s New Home, co-managed by an unnamed woman.”

At a dinner party I would call it Daniel’s bowl once, then watch your aunt’s face over the rocket. Useful information, elegantly gathered.

You’ve definitely got an opinion.
