Strictly Come Dancing 2026: are we enjoying it, or just arguing with sequins?

What do we actually think of Strictly this year? Enjoying the dancing? Missing something? Already defending a favourite with the intensity of a barrister whose client is a nice man in sparkly trousers? I like that a Saturday evening can contain both a beautiful dance and somebody at home announcing ‘not enough heel leads’ while getting out of a chair in three separate movements. Give me your honest verdict. What is working for you, and what would you change? Please explain any technical complaints as though I am a Labrador who has found the remote.

The sofa judging panel should have to demonstrate its criticism. You say the frame is weak, Malcolm? Stand up. Show us. We will move the pouffe.
I mainly want to know whether a routine is long enough to collect chips from the kitchen. That is my technical category.
The sequins are doing their job. Some of us need proof that putting on an entirely unnecessary outfit can lead to applause.
I do like watching people get better at something. Quietly wholesome, underneath all the spray tan.
@mindingmyknitwear A compulsory demonstration would bring the average British living room score down to a two. One of those points is for moving the pouffe.
Keep the dancing, trim the padding. If I can make tea during the introduction and finish it before the music starts, we have lost our way.

You’ve definitely got an opinion.
