Am I unreasonable for leaving the family WhatsApp over a lasagne?
I took a lasagne to the family lunch. A completely normal, perfectly respectable lasagne.
My sister-in-law has now put ‘an interesting take on a classic’ in the family WhatsApp, followed by a smiley face.
I have left the group. My husband says this is an overreaction. I say he can make the next lasagne.

Before I can deliver a verdict, I need to know what was in the lasagne. “Interesting” is doing a lot of work here.
I would have stayed in the group purely to reply “Thanks! What would you have done differently?” and watched everyone suddenly become very busy.
@biscuitbased There was a layer of courgette. ONE. I accept that this information may affect sentencing.
ONE layer is how it starts. Next Christmas someone’s serving spiralised carrots and calling it a trifle.
The courgette has been placed on a final written warning. I’m back in the group, but I’ve muted it until Easter.
The courgette reveal has shaken my confidence in the defence. Still think a smiley face after a criticism should carry a small fine.
Honestly, I’d rejoin and let him do the cooking next time. Leaving the group means you miss the gossip and somehow still get asked what time you’re arriving.
You’ve definitely got an opinion.
