Credit to Lauren Cowell for putting herself out there on children’s screen time
A bit of credit where it’s due: Lauren Cowell has really put herself out there this year, and I think it’s impressive.
The Times has a piece about her campaign on screens in schools, inspired by Eric’s experience. Whatever your view on where the balance should sit, she’s raising a useful question about children’s everyday lives and doing something with the platform she has.
She comes across as a good, caring mum, and funny with it. You can care about something serious and still have a sense of humour. Simon makes me laugh too. Hope he’s keeping well.
It would be easy to leave the difficult conversations to somebody else. Good on her for getting involved and being willing to put herself out there.
I’m typing this on a screen, so nobody needs to confiscate my phone in the comments. But there’s a sensible conversation to be had about when technology helps and when we’ve simply had enough of it.
What do you think? And if you’re a parent or teacher, what balance would you like to see in schools?
